I decided to go on a trip. I guess it was way overdue.
The Canaries it had to be. Lanzarote exactly. So, what can I tell you about this island?
First, there is the sea! Lightblue, green and combined with the nice subtropical weather just amazing. And the beaches, oh my the beaches… Lanzarote has a large number and variety of beaches throughout its coastlines; fine white or black sand. With or without lava rocks, maybe with some greenery. This was what I was doing most of my time. Lying around somewhere on the island basking in the sun. Sometimes, but just sometimes and not too often I got up and started strolling around the island with my rental car. I have to confess, that this mostly ended up in pure adventure. Like when I went for a day trip to the national park. I never ever in my life had to go up this steep with a car. I even had to park somewhere up there between this steep slopes. This very, very, very steep slopes. #almostdied
So… Lanzarote was quite some fun with a lot of relaxation. Though I have to say, that the island is very touristy. There aren’t much local stores, restaurants and or hidden places to find. This really was THE THING I missed. This authentic little island stuff.
Still, my to do list, here we go:
Get some tan! Enjoy the beach, read your new fav book, relax! Try to get there early, because at the afternoons strong winds appear. You definitely feel like you are in the desert then. I almost felt like I am in between a little sandstorm. Try to hide between lava rocks. That’s what I did.
Rent a car! Go for the landscape! Don’t forget your camera and your macro lens.
Timanfaya Nationalpark – Go get yourself a car and get up the mountains. Be careful, cause it’s going to be steep, very steep.
El Golfo – Day trip! Get there via Los Hervideros, choose a lovely little restaurant for lunch at El Golfo (there are quite some nice places), take a sunbath, stroll around the little fishermen’s village, eat there again for dinner, head back.
Los Hervideros – Lava rock cliffs! Very impressive! Feel the splashing water!
Go for fish, fish and fish.
